BRUM VEGGIES MEETING

Hi all. Hope you are enjoying the lovely weather at the moment?

Just a quick reminder that we have a BVV meeting on Tuesday evening – ‘Experiments in Urban Food Production’ with Elanor Hoad.

Birmingham-based vegan artist Elanor will talk about art and food production in the context of an urban environment. Eleanor is an environmental artist exploring sustainability in the city and urban Permaculture. She has been involved in a wide variety of community based ecological and social arts projects. Recent key projects include: project manager of ‘Wythenshawe Forever!’ a Manchester based climate change project, including 10 artist commissions, a 50ft temporary structure and a community festival and a lead artist for ‘Brave New Brum’ which explored Birmingham’s regeneration in a solar-powered recycled media-lab in a caravan.

In Erdington, Eleanor Hoad’s ‘Prepare’ residency explored ways in which we can feed ourselves in the city and celebrate our local harvests. Inspired by urban Permaculture and traditional celebrations around growing food, Eleanor created a fruit harvesting, processing and distributing scheme using unwanted local fruit.

Meeting starts at 7:30pm at Carrs Lane Church Centre, Carrs Lane, Birmingham (opposite Moor Street Station and Marks & Spencers – easy & safe walking distance from New Street Station and Selfridges/Bull Ring Shopping Centre). Entry costs £2.50 per person.
